Why is recycling important for the environment?
It reduces energy consumption – If we recycle we reduce the extraction, transportation and elaboration of new raw materials. At the same time, the less energy we consume, the less CO2 we generate and the less greenhouse effect we have.
Reduces the use of landfills – Landfills are, for the most part, responsible for the contamination of soil and groundwater.
We use less raw materials – In other words, by recycling, the need to use new raw materials to manufacture products disappear; leaving us a large amount of natural resources.
